What the Game Actually Is
The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is a third-person adventure game in the classic detective mold. You move Holmes through 3D environments, click on objects to inspect them, and build a case file from what you find. The structure rewards patience: a careless read of a crime scene leaves gaps, and the game expects you to return to evidence when new facts change the picture.
The narrative centers on a high-profile case that starts with a theft and widens into fraud and betrayal. Suspects lie, documents contradict each other, and the plot leans on twists that reframe earlier scenes. If you enjoy piecing together a mystery rather than fighting through it, this is the core appeal. The game keeps combat out of the equation and asks you to think instead.
The 1898 London setting is part of the draw. Baker Street, the docks, and the city's interiors are rendered with period detail, and the art direction favors a moody, gaslit look over bright spectacle. For players who came to the series through other entries, this one sits comfortably alongside Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments Free Download, which pushes the deduction system further but shares the same investigative rhythm.
Key Features
- Crime scene examination: Inspect objects and environments in 3D to gather physical evidence.
- Suspect interrogation: Question characters and compare their statements against the facts you have collected.
- Deduction-driven puzzles: Connect clues to advance the case instead of relying on reflexes.
- Story-heavy campaign: A single narrative built around theft, fraud, and betrayal with multiple turns.
- Period setting: A detailed 1898 London backdrop with Baker Street and other recognizable locations.
- Direct GOG installer: One-click setup from the download below, with no extra launcher required.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Strong mystery structure, faithful Holmes atmosphere, no combat to interrupt the investigation, and a straightforward installer.
- Cons: The 6.04 GB download is large for an adventure game; the older engine means visuals show their age; pacing is slow by design, which will not suit players who want constant action.

Who This Is For
This game suits players who enjoy detective fiction, slow-burn mysteries, and puzzle solving over action. If you liked the deduction loop in Sherlock Holmes The Awakened Free Download, the investigation structure here will feel familiar. Players who prefer fast combat or modern graphics should look elsewhere, because the engine is older and the pace is deliberate.
Fans of the original stories will recognize the tone: Holmes is arrogant, sharp, and occasionally wrong, and the game uses that personality to drive the case forward. The London setting and period detail carry much of the atmosphere, and the story's twists are the main reward for sticking with it.
